Fairfield Markets temporarily closed

As part of Fairfield City Council’s ongoing efforts to protect the community’s health and wellbeing, the Fairfield Markets at Fairfield Showground are now temporarily closed.
Council decided to take the proactive step in line with accelerating efforts to curb the spread of Coronavirus in Australia. Market vendors are being informed of the decision.
The decision also impacts the Pickers Bazaar, which will also close temporarily.
Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone said Council has acted to protect the health and wellbeing of residents.
“I know the Fairfield Markets are a popular and important part of the lives of many Fairfield City residents, but the risk is simply too great to let them continue at this time,” Mayor Carbone said.
“There are many local businesses that are still providing household necessities and other goods in-store, online, and through takeaway and delivery.
“I encourage everyone to support your local businesses where you can. Together we will get through this.
“Council remains committed to providing access to the services that you need, and will continue to keep the community updated.
“I thank everyone for their patience and cooperation in this challenging time.”
Council has closed and made changes to a number of its services in light of the Coronavirus pandemic. For a full list of changes, visit www.fairfieldcity.nsw.gov.au/coronavirus.
We will continue to provide updates to the community as and when changes occur.
